1. Czech Dance Platform: Sun 7. 4. 2024 – Wed 10. 4. 2024

 The  30th edition of Czech Dance Platform, which presents the most interesting performances produced on the Czech dance scene every year, is popular with the public and primarily with domestic and international professionals. The Platform is a great networking opportunity, as it encourages close international and national contacts and subsequent collaboration.

The Platform is rooted in its rich accompanying program, which includes Meet the Artists, site-specific projects, artist trips, discussions, presentations and much more.

2. KafkaEsque: Fri 9. 2. 2024 – Sun 22. 9. 2024

Prague-born Franz Kafka (1883-1924) is one of the key authors of 20th-century world culture. His novels, stories, and correspondence have been translated into dozens of languages, his work and life have become the subject of numerous monographs and expert studies. Kafka’s literary work has influenced other writers and gradually affected many different areas of culture, such as film, music and visual arts.

The exhibition KAFKAESQUE focuses on reflections on Kafka’s work and poetics in contemporary visual art offering not a historical perspective of his work, but a view that reflects our present-day situation with all its complexities and ambiguities. Works by more than twenty internationally acclaimed artists show that Kafka’s work, with its references to existential fears and personal anxieties, is highly relevant for our times.
For decades, attempts to understand Kafka’s literary work and life have posed a great intellectual and often even emotional challenge to scholars and readers and have been subject to many interpretations. This exhibition aims not to build new monuments that repeat old clichés, but to reflect Kafka’s work through the perspective of the contemporary world, which is at a turning point where the old is no more and the new has not yet been born.

Franz Kafka’s relationship to the visual arts and the impact of his work on visual culture are still less explored areas of study. While many texts have addressed the influence of his native Prague and its magical and oppressive atmosphere on Kafka’s work, few have focused on his profound and continuous interest in the arts.

The exhibition KAFKAESQUE, held in Franz Kafka’s native city of Prague on the centenary of his death, will present works by internationally acclaimed artists for whom Kafka's works remain an inspiration. The exhibition will be accompanied by numerous events, including literary readings, film projections, concerts, etc.

3. Prague of Charles IV. - The Medieval Town - Permanent Exhibition 

The virtual and tangible models of buildings founded by Charles IV, the housing development within the urban agglomeration, the stone bridge, and other buildings show the appearance of the metropolis changed by Charles IV and other rulers of the House of Luxembourg.

Among the attractive exhibits are the model of Vyšehrad, Prague Castle, and St Vitus Cathedral which in Charles IV's time were used for religious and state purposes.

Virtual presentations show the system of town administration as well as the medieval bridge construction. Dramatic stops evoke the atmosphere of the town, its life and events such as Charles's birth, his arrival to Prague in 1333, his coronation, and burial. Video mapping of the Prague conurbation model as well as Charles Square and its vicinity presents the building and urban development of the town during the 14th century. Unique archaeological findings and other original objects from the collections of the Prague City Museum, National Heritage Institute (Regional Office in Prague), and other institutions illustrate the everyday life of the town and its inhabitants during the rule of the Luxembourgs.
